Bedding touches your skin for eight hours a day, so the weave and type of fiber matter more than the pattern. At the same time, it is the largest area of color in the bedroom – changing the set transforms the entire space.
What Size to Choose?
The duvet cover should match the duvet, not the bed. The most popular sizes are 160×200 and 200×220 cm – the latter is chosen for beds 160 and 180 cm when two people sleep under a shared duvet.
A Scandinavian solution is often more comfortable: two separate duvets 155×220 cm on one bed. This ends the tug-of-war over the duvet and makes making the bed easier.
Cotton, Satin, or Linen?
Cotton in a percale weave is cool and matte – the safest choice for all year round. Cotton satin is the same cotton in a different weave: smoother, slightly shiny, and more pleasant to the touch, but more slippery.
Linen is the coolest in summer and best at wicking moisture. It naturally wrinkles – this is a characteristic of the material, not a flaw – and becomes softer with each wash.
What Else to Pay Attention To
A closure with a hidden zipper or buttons holds better than a flap. Also, check if the set includes pillowcases 70×80 or 50×60 cm – the difference can be a source of disappointment when shopping online.

Bedding pairs well with a fitted sheet in the same shade and a bedspread that covers the bed during the day. Add character with decorative pillows arranged in front of the bedding.
