What to Choose: Sofa or Sectional
A sectional utilizes the corner of the room, which typically remains empty with a classic sofa, and provides more seating. A classic sofa is more flexible for rearranging and fits more easily into smaller spaces – especially when paired with an armchair.
The greatest freedom comes from modular sofas, which can be rearranged after moving.
Dimensions and Planning
Before ordering, outline the furniture's shape on the floor with painter's tape. Leave at least 80 cm of passage around it, and 40–45 cm in front of the coffee table. Also, check the path for delivery – the width of doors and staircases.
For sectionals, the side of the unit is crucial: left or right side is determined by looking at the furniture from the front.
Sleeping Function
If the furniture is meant for guests, choose a fold-out model. Check the mechanism, the evenness of the sleeping surface, and the presence of a storage compartment for bedding – these are the three factors that determine daily comfort.
Fabrics and Colors
For large upholstery surfaces, durability is determined by the density of the weave. In homes with children and pets, corduroy and tight weaves perform better than looped bouclé. Neutral beiges are versatile, while black models provide a stronger accent.

In the living room, place the furniture on a rug that accommodates at least the front legs, and add cushions and a floor lamp next to the armrest.
