Kitchen Accessories and Tableware
Well-chosen tableware makes everyday meals feel like a celebration, and hosting doesn’t require borrowing plates. At Eye on Design, you’ll find tableware and accessories from European manufacturers – from everyday use to special occasions.
How to Complete Your Tableware Set
The foundation is a set for six people, even if there are just two of you on a daily basis – this way, you won’t need to add anything when guests arrive. The minimum includes dinner plates and deep plates, bowls, cutlery, and cups or mugs.
A practical rule: buy the base in one neutral pattern, and add character with smaller elements – dessert plates, glasses, or trays. This way, replacing broken pieces won’t be a problem.
Material and Usage
Porcelain is thin, lighter, and the most elegant; most contemporary series are dishwasher safe. Stoneware is thicker and heavier, with a matte, hand-finished glaze – hence the slight differences between pieces, which are a feature, not a flaw.
With glass, check if the manufacturer allows dishwasher cleaning – thin, hand-blown glasses often require hand washing.
Accessories That Truly Make Your Work Easier
Carafes and coffee makers organize your morning ritual, kettles in a cohesive style can be left on display, and containers for grains and pasta allow you to eliminate open packages in the cupboard.
On the countertop, it’s best to leave only what you use daily – the rest can be stored away. You’ll find more suggestions in the Kitchen collection and among corkscrews and openers.
Setting the Table
When setting the table, count about 60 cm of width per person – the same as when choosing chairs for the table. It’s best to limit decorations to low elements that don’t obstruct conversations: candle holders and small vases.
Tableware – Frequently Asked Questions
How many place settings should I buy?
Usually six – this is a sufficient set for guests and allows for rotation when some are in the dishwasher.
Porcelain or stoneware?
Porcelain is lighter and more elegant, while stoneware is thicker, matte, and has a more rustic character.
Does the tableware have to be from one set?
No. A neutral base complemented by bold accents works best – it’s also easier to replace missing pieces.
