A rug does more in a space than meets the eye – it ties furniture together into one zone, softens the room, and warms the floor. Often, it’s the absence of a rug that makes a living room feel unfinished, even with a complete set of furniture.

How to Choose the Right Size Rug?
This is the most common mistake when purchasing – a rug that is too small makes the space look random. In the living room, the rug should extend at least under the front legs of the sofa, and ideally encompass the entire seating area along with the armchair and coffee table.
In the dining room, the rule is different: the rug must be large enough so that when the chairs are pulled out, their back legs still remain on the rug. It is recommended to have about 60–75 cm of extra space on each side of the table.
Rug for the Bedroom
In the bedroom, it matters where you place your feet upon waking. A large rug extending 60–80 cm from the bed on three sides works best. Alternatively, two smaller rugs on either side of the bed can be a more budget-friendly solution for larger beds.
Shape and Material
Round rugs break the geometry of the room and look great under a round table, in the hallway, or in a corner with an armchair. Rectangular rugs work better with long sofas and sectionals.
Wool rugs are soft, durable, and naturally stain-resistant, making them ideal for the living room and bedroom. For the dining room and hallway, a short, tight weave is preferable – it’s easier to vacuum. For the terrace and balcony, choose outdoor rugs that are resistant to moisture and sunlight.
Rug and the Rest of the Interior
A rug is a large area of color, so it’s worth coordinating it with the upholstery of the furniture. If the sofa is patterned, choose a subdued rug – and vice versa. It’s a good idea to repeat the rug's color in cushions or a throw to create a cohesive look.
