Care for natural leathers and eco-leathers

A material that gains character over time

Natural leather has long been regarded as one of the most noble materials used in furniture production. It impresses with its softness, durability, and unique texture, which gains individual character over time. With proper care, it can retain its properties and elegant appearance for many years.

Eco-leather and modern synthetic materials provide a practical alternative to natural leather. They are highly resistant to everyday use, easy to clean, and aesthetically pleasing. Although their care is less demanding, they also require proper treatment to maintain flexibility and surface aesthetics.

Natural variations in color, texture, subtle wrinkles, or visible pores are characteristic features of natural leather and attest to its authenticity. They should not be considered defects in the product.

Daily care

Regularly remove dust from furniture surfaces using a soft, dry microfiber cloth or a gentle vacuum attachment designed for upholstery.

For regular cleaning, a lightly dampened soft cloth is sufficient. Excess moisture should be immediately removed with a dry cloth.

Avoid vigorous rubbing of the surface, which can lead to localized glossing or damage to the finish.

Remove stains promptly

Spilled liquids should be removed immediately after they occur.

Gently dry the surface with a soft cloth, avoiding rubbing the stain into the material.

Exercise particular caution with:

• staining fabrics.

What to avoid?

• bleaches,
• chlorine,
• products containing ammonia,
• aggressive detergents,
• rough sponges,
• hard-bristled brushes.

They can damage the surface of the material, cause discoloration, cracking, or loss of elasticity.

Protect from sunlight and high temperatures

Prolonged exposure to UV radiation can lead to color fading and drying out of the leather.

If possible, position furniture away from windows without coverings or use blinds and curtains to limit direct sunlight.

Do not place furniture directly next to fireplaces, radiators, or other heat sources. High temperatures can cause the material to dry out and crack.

Maintain appropriate room humidity

Natural leather retains its properties best in rooms with moderate temperature and humidity.

Excessively dry air can lead to a gradual loss of the material's elasticity, so it's advisable to avoid prolonged overheating of rooms.

Regular maintenance

Natural leather requires periodic care with conditioning products that nourish the material and help maintain its softness.

Depending on the intensity of use, maintenance is recommended every 6–12 months.

Synthetic leather usually does not require impregnation or oiling. Regular cleaning and protection from excessive heat are sufficient.
