Care for Plastics

Functionality and Durability for Everyday Use

Plastics are widely used in contemporary design due to their durability, lightweight nature, and versatility. They are used to create furniture, lighting, accessories, and decor items that perform excellently both indoors and outdoors.

Modern materials such as polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), ABS, acrylic, and polycarbonate stand out for their high resistance to daily use and ease of maintenance. Proper cleaning and usage help maintain their aesthetics, color, and functionality for many years.

Natural variations in shade, delicate surface texture, or subtle marks resulting from the manufacturing process are characteristic of many products made from plastics and do not constitute a defect.

Daily Maintenance

For regular cleaning, use a soft microfiber or cotton cloth.

For larger stains, lukewarm water with a small amount of mild detergent with neutral pH is sufficient.

After washing, wipe the surface dry to prevent streaks and deposits.

Remove Stains Promptly

Dust, fingerprints, and spilled liquids are best removed immediately after they appear.

Regular cleaning prevents the accumulation of dirt and helps maintain the aesthetic appearance of the surface.

Select Appropriate Cleaning Agents

For maintenance, use only mild products designed for plastics or those with neutral pH.

It is best to apply the product to a soft cloth rather than directly onto the product's surface.

Always test a new cleaning agent in an inconspicuous area before use.

What to Avoid?

Do not use:

  • acetone,
  • solvents,
  • extraction gasoline,
  • bleaches,
  • chlorine,
  • abrasive cleaners,
  • cleaning powders,
  • wire sponges,
  • hard brushes.

These can cause surface dullness, discoloration, micro-scratches, or permanent damage to the material.

Protect Against Scratches

Although many plastics are resistant to daily use, glossy surfaces can be prone to scratches.

Avoid sliding sharp or heavy objects across them.

Using felt or silicone pads under decorations, pots, or vases is advisable.

Limit Prolonged Sun Exposure

Some plastics may undergo natural color changes over time due to intense UV radiation.

If possible, avoid prolonged exposure of products to direct sunlight or periodically change their position.

Products intended for outdoor use typically have increased resistance to UV radiation but still require regular maintenance.

Avoid High Temperatures

Do not place plastic products directly next to fireplaces, radiators, or other heat sources.

Do not set very hot dishes on them unless the manufacturer has specified such use.

Excessive heat can lead to warping or permanent damage to the surface.

Different Types of Plastics

Polypropylene (PP)

It is lightweight, durable, and moisture-resistant. For daily care, a soft cloth and mild detergent are sufficient.

Polyethylene (PE)

It is highly resistant to weather conditions and is often used in garden furniture and pots.

ABS

This material is used in various accessories and equipment components. It is durable, but it is advisable to protect it from scratches.

Acrylic and Polycarbonate

Transparent materials require particularly gentle care. Only soft cloths and products designed for plastic surfaces should be used for cleaning.

Longevity Begins with Proper Care

Plastics combine durability with ease of everyday use. Regular cleaning, using appropriate care products, and protecting against scratches and excessive heat exposure help maintain their aesthetics and functionality for many years.

Natural signs of use that appear over time are an inherent part of daily use of products and do not affect their durability or user comfort.
